Notion-style Document Editor, Drive View Modes & a Smarter Email AI
This week brings a major upgrade to the document editor with Notion-style building blocks — toggles, callouts, multi-column layouts, inline comments, and embedded transcriptions — plus a new Windows Explorer-style view for Drive with thumbnails for images and videos. The Email AI got dramatically smarter at catching spam, drafting replies, and learning from how you sort your inbox, and Boards gained a brand-new To-Do view for managing your day.
New Features
Document Editor — Notion-style Blocks, Inline Comments & Listen
The document editor has been rebuilt around a richer set of building blocks and a cleaner block menu, bringing it to parity with the best modern editors:
- Block side menu — click the six-dot handle next to any block to turn it into another type, change its color, duplicate it, delete it, comment on it, or ask AI about it, all from one redesigned menu with keyboard shortcuts (#2930)
- Redesigned slash menu — typing
/now opens a grouped, two-column menu with a live preview panel and the most-used actions (Ask AI, Link a document, Attach transcription, Add table, Insert diagram) pinned to the top (#2930, #2927) - Toggle & callout blocks — add collapsible toggle sections and colored callout boxes with custom emoji icons for notes, warnings, and tips (#2931)
- Multi-column layouts — split any part of a document into 2 to 5 side-by-side columns and drag the gutter to resize them (#2933)
- Inline comments — highlight text or hover a block to start a comment thread with replies, mentions, reactions, and attachments; teammates get notified by bell and email with a direct link that scrolls straight to the comment (#2932)
- Embedded transcriptions — drop a meeting or voice channel transcription into a document as a rich card with audio playback, and spawn a new document pre-loaded with a transcription straight from the session menu (#2925, #2927)
- Delete a whole table — a new "Delete table" action in the row and column menus removes an entire table at once instead of one cell at a time (#2929)
- Markdown tables everywhere — tables pasted from other editors, imported, or written by AI now render as real editable tables instead of plain text (#2928)
Drive — Windows Explorer-style View Modes
Drive now lets you browse your files the way you do on your desktop (#2924):
- Four view modes — switch between a details list and small, medium, large, or extra-large icon grids from a new view menu in the header
- Image & video thumbnails — image files show real previews and videos show their first frame, so you can spot the file you want at a glance
- Your preference is remembered — your chosen view mode and sort order are saved to your account and follow you across devices
- Richer file preview — the full-screen preview now includes share, download, zoom, and full-screen buttons alongside the close button
- New Folder, front and center — a "New Folder" button now sits at the top of the create menu so making a folder is one click from anywhere in your Drive (#2920)
Boards — New To-Do View
A new To-Do view for Boards, inspired by classic day-planner apps (#2900):
- Day lanes and a backlog — schedule tasks into per-day lanes with an always-visible backlog zone for everything that isn't dated yet
- Drag to schedule — drag tasks between days and the backlog, and click any unscheduled task to drop it onto a day instantly
- Satisfying completion — checking off a task plays a bounce, confetti, and a celebration badge
- Recurring to-dos & rollover — set tasks to repeat and choose whether unfinished items roll over to the next day
- Display settings — color your cards, group your backlog, and show or hide row IDs from a settings menu
Inbox — Gmail-style Archive Folder
Your inbox now has a proper Archive (#2908):
- Archive tab — a new Archived folder sits between Spam and Trash, with hover and bulk actions to archive emails or move them back to your inbox
- Mark as unread closes the thread — marking an email unread now closes it and returns you to the list, exactly like Gmail (#2907)
Bug Fixes
- Inbox — marketing emails packed with remote images now load in a couple of frames instead of taking up to a minute, and no longer appear clipped while they load (#2912)
- Inbox — forwarded emails from Gmail now show the full message content instead of a cramped one-line preview (#2912)
- Inbox — plain-text emails now render with proper spacing, paragraphs, and clickable links (#2912)
- Inbox — "Select all" now selects only the emails visible under your active filter (like "Needs reply"), not the entire page behind it (#2919)
- Inbox — the filter chips no longer wrap onto a second line in Portuguese (#2917)
- Email — AI reply drafts are now signed with your real name instead of your email address, and the AI sees the full conversation rather than short previews (#2906)
- Email — replying to a thread where your own message was the most recent no longer drafts a reply to yourself (#2911)
- Email — AI-drafted replies now keep their paragraph spacing when inserted into the composer instead of collapsing onto one line (#2911)
- Transcriptions — summaries of Portuguese recordings now stay in Portuguese instead of being written in English (#2917)
- DocSign — the signer completion screen now invites people to start a free-forever workspace with clearer wording (#2919)
Improvements
Email AI — Smarter Spam, Drafts & Learning
The Email AI got a significant overhaul this week:
- Stronger spam detection — the spam guard now weighs many more signals (sender and domain reputation, whether you've corresponded before, the full email body, and unsubscribe headers) to catch modern spam it used to miss (#2904)
- It actually learns now — when you mark something as spam or move it to trash, the AI remembers and applies that to future emails from the same sender; rescuing an email protects that sender going forward (#2904, #2905)
- Auto-trash from your habits — once you've trashed a couple of emails from a sender, the AI can start auto-trashing future ones, with smart exceptions for known contacts (#2905)
- Trash that cleans itself up — trashed email is permanently removed after 30 days (90 days for AI-trashed mail) so your trash never grows forever (#2905)
- Steer your AI drafts — type or speak refinements like "make it warmer" or "don't mention the meeting" and the AI rewrites the draft instead of starting over, with the full draft now always visible (#2906)
- Thread summaries from two emails — even a short two-email back-and-forth now gets an AI summary (#2906)
- Timing-aware replies — AI drafts now understand the current date and time so they can reason about deadlines and response speed (#2909)
- Important emails always reach you — the AI now only silences notifications for emails it's confident are spam or trash, so legitimate mail always shows up in your bell and on mobile (#2903)
AI Image Generation
- Polished image generation — generated images now appear with a loading placeholder, open in a full-screen lightbox, and offer a download button, with clear error handling when a request can't be completed (#2918)
Per-user Inbox Notifications
- Choose how each inbox notifies you — each member of a shared inbox can now pick their own notification level (All, Important only, Needs-reply only, or Muted), with the AI-powered filters available once AI and Quiet Mode are on (#2914)
Community Sign-On
- One-click community access — sign in to the Copera community forum using your existing Copera account, with workspace selection for people in more than one workspace
