AI Features Overview

Copera AI is a suite of AI features woven across the whole platform — chat, boards, documents, meetings, scheduling, and voice — rather than a separate tool you switch to. Ask a question in chat, turn a meeting into assigned tasks, generate a board formula in plain English, let an assistant book a meeting on your calendar, dictate a document by voice, or connect your own AI assistant to act inside your workspace. Every capability respects your workspace permissions, so AI never surfaces content you could not already access, and never acts beyond what you are allowed to do.

Ask Copera AI (Chat)​

Ask Copera AI is a dedicated conversational assistant built into Copera. Ask questions, generate content, brainstorm ideas, and get help with tasks through a modern chat interface. It understands your workspace context — documents, board rows, meetings, and Drive files — and can attach files, search the web, generate images, run deep research, and even schedule on your behalf, all within one conversation.

Deep Research​

Deep Research is an advanced Ask Copera AI capability for thorough, multi-step investigation of complex topics. The AI creates a research plan, breaks your question into sub-questions, searches multiple sources, and produces a comprehensive, cited report. You can review and edit the plan, choose a depth tier, and get notified when the research completes.

Image Generation​

Ask Copera AI can generate images from text descriptions. Describe what you want in natural language and the AI creates it inline in your conversation. View generated images in a full-screen lightbox and download them to your computer.

AI in Boards​

Boards include AI tools that speed up data entry, formula writing, and board setup:

  • AI Row Creation — Describe a row in natural language or by voice, and AI fills in the column values and creates it.
  • AI Formula Assistant — Describe the calculation you need in plain language, and AI writes the board formula for you.
  • AI Board Templates — Describe the board you need, and AI generates the columns, field types, and structure.

Boards can also act on your data automatically with AI steps inside Automations — summarize, classify, extract, translate, analyze sentiment, and turn meeting transcripts into assigned tasks. Those automations can also reach beyond your workspace — publishing to WordPress, messaging Slack, or syncing a Google Sheet — through connectors.

AI in Documents​

The document editor includes an AI assistant that works directly inside your content:

  • Ask AI — Trigger the AI prompt from the slash command menu or a text selection to ask questions, generate content, or transform selected text.
  • Writing Assistance — Generate paragraphs, improve writing, fix grammar, change tone, summarize, and more.
  • Contextual Conversations — Have a back-and-forth with AI about your document, and insert generated text directly into the editor.

AI Scheduling​

Scheduling is built right into Copera's AI. You can ask the assistant in plain language to check your day, find a time across several people, or book a meeting — and it handles the calendar work for you. The same scheduling power is available to every Copera AI agent, not just one place, so any assistant you talk to can plan around your real day and book on your behalf, always within your permissions.

Bankai Voice​

Bankai is your voice-powered productivity feature. Instead of typing, you hold a key, speak naturally, and Bankai handles the rest — dictating formatted text, answering a question, navigating Copera by voice, having a spoken conversation, or even answering questions about what is on your screen. Bankai operates in several voice modes and is available in the Copera desktop app.

AI Teammates​

AI teammates are named agents that run on their own schedule, under their own identity, doing a standing job for your workspace — a daily executive briefing, a stale-lead nudger, an onboarding buddy. Where Ask Copera AI acts inside a conversation and automations fire on a trigger, a teammate owns a recurring job and reports back on its own. Connect Your Own AI Tools​

Beyond the AI built into Copera, you can bring your own AI tools to your workspace and let them work alongside you.

Connect Your AI Assistant​

You can connect an external AI assistant to your Copera workspace so it can act across your boards, documents, Drive, channels, and search — reading and updating your data on your behalf. The connection runs as you, scoped to your workspace and your permissions, so the assistant can only see and do what you can.

There are two ways to connect:

  • Connected App (one click) — Authorize the assistant through a guided sign-in flow and choose which areas it may access (boards, channels, docs, drive, notifications). No tokens to copy or manage.
  • Personal Access Token — Generate a token in your Copera settings and point your AI assistant at Copera. Useful when you want a single key you control.

Under the hood this uses Copera's MCP connector, which lets MCP-compatible AI clients operate in your workspace through the public API.

The Connected App flow is the easiest way to get started — there is nothing to copy or paste. Reach for a Personal Access Token when you need a key you manage yourself or want to use it from scripts.

Operate Copera from Your Terminal​

The Copera CLI lets you — and your AI coding assistant — run your workspace from the command line: list boards, read and update rows, manage docs and Drive files, send channel messages, and search, all running as you within your permissions.

To let your AI coding assistant drive the CLI, you install the Copera skill, which teaches the assistant how to run copera commands so it can operate in your workspace for you.

How AI Context Works​

Across all AI features, context is what makes responses relevant to your work. In Ask Copera AI, you can attach workspace files, documents, Drive items, and meeting transcriptions to your conversation. In Documents, the AI automatically has access to the content of the document you are editing. In Boards, the AI understands your table structure, column types, and existing data when generating row values, formulas, or running AI steps in automations. When you connect your own AI tools, they discover and read the same workspace content you have access to.

Accessing AI Features​

  • Ask Copera AI — Click the AI section in the left sidebar to open the conversational assistant.
  • Board AI — Look for the sparkles icon in board table toolbars when creating rows or editing formulas; AI steps live in the board Automations builder.
  • Document AI — Use the slash command menu (type /) and select "Ask AI", or select text and choose the AI option.
  • AI Scheduling — Ask the assistant to schedule, find a time, or book a meeting in plain language from anywhere you can chat.
  • Bankai Voice — Enable voice features in the AI sidebar and use push-to-talk shortcuts to speak instead of type.
  • Global Search — From the global search bar, prefix your query with ! to send it directly to Ask Copera AI.
  • Your own AI tools — Connect an AI assistant via a Connected App or Personal Access Token, or install the Copera CLI and the Copera skill.

Every AI capability is available on every workspace — there is nothing to unlock. What changes is how many pooled AI credits your workspace has to spend. Any workspace member can draw from the shared pool.

What AI models power Copera?​

Copera is smart about picking the right approach for each task to give you the best results, combining high-quality web search, advanced reasoning, image generation, and speech recognition behind a single, simple experience. You do not have to choose or configure anything.

Does Copera AI have access to my workspace data?​

Yes, but only to data you already have permission to view. Ask Copera AI, Boards AI, Documents AI, and any AI tools you connect search across your accessible documents, board rows, meeting transcriptions, and Drive files to ground responses in your own content. Nothing is shared with other workspaces, and nothing you are not authorized to see is ever surfaced.

Can my connected AI assistant do things I am not allowed to do?​

No. Anything you connect — a Connected App, a Personal Access Token, or the Copera CLI — acts as you, scoped to your workspace and your permissions. It can only see and do what you can.

Can I use Copera AI without an internet connection?​

No. All AI capabilities require an internet connection. The Copera desktop app and browser both need online access for chat, deep research, image generation, scheduling, and Bankai voice.

What is the difference between Ask Copera AI, Deep Research, and Bankai?​

Ask Copera AI is the conversational assistant for questions, content generation, and file analysis. Deep Research is a mode inside it for exhaustive, cited investigations. Bankai is the voice-first layer in the Copera desktop app — it lets you dictate text, ask questions, issue commands, or ask about your screen by holding a key and speaking.

How do I enable AI for my workspace?​

AI is enabled on every workspace by default — there is no feature gate to unlock. Every workspace starts with some pooled AI credits, and any member can draw from the shared pool. If you run out, your workspace can add to the pool.

Is my data used to train AI models?​

No. Copera does not use your workspace content to train AI models. Your data is only used to generate the response you asked for.
