Drive Home

Drive Home is the first page you see when you open Drive. From one screen you can ask AI Chat to create a file for you, start a blank document, spreadsheet, presentation or Markdown file in one click, and jump back into the folders and files you are most likely to need next.

Getting Started​

  1. Click Drive in the top bar.
  2. Click Home in the Drive menu (Home opens by default when you enter Drive).
  3. Pick what you want to do: type a request in the composer, click a Create new button, or open a suggested folder or file.

Create a File With AI Chat​

At the top of Home is an AI Chat composer. Tell it what you need and AI Chat creates the file for you.

  1. Choose the type of file above the composer: Document, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Markdown, PDF or Artifact.
  2. Describe the file, for example "a services agreement for Acme using the deal on the Sales CRM board" or "a one-page price list as a PDF".
  3. Use @ to mention files, boards or people the AI should use, attach files, or use the microphone to dictate.
  4. Click Create … with AI Chat (for example Create Document with AI Chat) to send the request. AI Chat creates the file in the folder you are working in, shown as Saves in … under the composer, or in My Disk when there is no folder. The file opens when it is ready.

An artifact can't be saved on the Workspace Disk, so an artifact you ask for from a Workspace Disk folder is saved in My Disk instead.

The composer sends a normal AI Chat conversation, so you can find it later in the AI Chat area and keep refining the file with follow-up messages.

Create a Blank File​

The Create new row has one button per file type, each tinted in the color of its type:

PDFs and artifacts are made with AI Chat, so their buttons prepare the composer instead of creating an empty file.

Suggested Folders​

Suggested folders shows the folders you are most likely to open next, with the disk and path under each name. Click a folder to open it.

Suggested Files​

Suggested files shows files you are likely to need, based on what you and your team did recently. Each file shows why it is suggested, for example:

  • You opened or You edited the file recently.
  • Ana edited it, or Julia shared with you.
  • Drafted for you: an agent or AI Chat created it for you.
  • Ana commented on it.

Suggestions only include files you can open. If someone stops sharing a file with you, it disappears from your suggestions right away.

Grid and List Views​

Use the switch next to Suggested files to change the layout. Drive remembers your choice.

  • Grid shows a card per file: the file icon and name on top, a preview of the first page, sheet or slide in the middle, and who did what and when at the bottom.
  • List shows a table with the columns Name, Why it's suggested, Owner and Location.

Tips and Best Practices​

Mention the board, file or channel that holds your source data with @ when you ask AI Chat to create a file. The result will use your real numbers and names instead of placeholders.

Frequently Asked Questions​

Where does a file created from Home go?​

Blank files created from Home are saved in My Disk. Files created while you are inside a folder are saved in that folder. The New menu always tells you where new files will be saved ("Files save in …"), and the composer shows it as "Saves in …".

Can I create a PDF from scratch?​

Yes, with AI Chat. Click PDF in the Create new row, describe the PDF, and send. AI Chat builds it and saves a .pdf file in Drive that opens in the PDF preview.

Why is a file suggested to me?​

Each suggestion shows its reason, such as a recent edit, a share or a comment. Suggestions are based on activity on files you already have access to.
