File Preview
Copera Drive includes a built-in file preview system that lets you view many file types directly in the browser without downloading them. This speeds up your workflow by allowing you to quickly check file contents, review documents, and watch media without leaving the platform.
Supported Preview Types
The preview system supports the following file categories:
Images
All common image formats can be previewed at full resolution:
- PNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, SVG, WEBP, BMP, ICO
Images open in a lightbox viewer where you can zoom in and out to inspect details.
PDFs
PDF files open in an embedded viewer that renders pages directly in the browser. You can scroll through multi-page documents and zoom to read fine print.
Videos
Video files play directly in the browser using the built-in media player:
- MP4, WEBM, MOV, AVI, and other common video formats
The player includes standard controls for play/pause, seeking, volume, and fullscreen.
Audio
Audio files are playable with an embedded audio player:
- MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, and other audio formats
Opening a Preview
To preview a file, simply click on its name or thumbnail in the Drive file list. The preview opens in a lightbox overlay on top of your current Drive view. Files that support preview will open automatically in the viewer.
For files that do not have a supported preview type (such as ZIP archives or proprietary formats), clicking the file will show file details and offer a download option instead.
Preview Controls
The preview lightbox provides several controls:
- Close -- Click the X button or press Escape to close the preview and return to Drive.
- Download -- Download the file directly from the preview view.
- Zoom -- For images and PDFs, use zoom controls or scroll to zoom in and out.
- Fullscreen -- For videos, use the fullscreen button for an immersive viewing experience.
Public File Preview
Files shared via public links can also be previewed by anyone with the link. The same preview capabilities are available for public content, allowing external recipients to view images, PDFs, and videos without needing a Copera account.
File Details
In addition to previewing file content, you can open the file details drawer to see metadata such as:
- File name, type, and size
- Upload date and last modified date
- Owner and sharing information
- Storage path
The details drawer is accessible from the file's context menu or by selecting a file in the Drive table.
