Uploading Files

Copera Drive supports multiple ways to get your files into the platform. Whether you are uploading a single document or moving an entire folder of project assets, the upload process is designed to be fast and straightforward.

Drag and Drop

The fastest way to upload files is by dragging them directly from your computer into the Drive window. Simply select one or more files from your file explorer and drop them into the current folder view. Drive will immediately begin uploading all dropped files.

You can also drag and drop entire folders. When you drop a folder, Drive preserves the original folder structure and uploads all contained files into a matching hierarchy.

Click to Upload

To upload using the file picker:

  1. Click the New button (or the + button) in the Drive toolbar.
  2. Select Upload file from the dropdown menu.
  3. Choose one or more files from your computer using the system file picker.
  4. The upload begins automatically after you confirm your selection.

To upload an entire folder, select Upload folder from the same dropdown menu and choose the folder you want to upload.

Bulk Upload

Drive supports uploading multiple files at once. You can select several files in the system file picker by holding Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or Cmd (Mac) while clicking, or by dragging a selection box. All selected files will be uploaded in parallel.

Upload Progress

When files are uploading, a progress indicator appears so you can monitor the status of each file. Large files use multipart upload technology, which splits the file into smaller chunks for faster and more reliable transfers. If a chunk fails, only that portion needs to be re-sent rather than the entire file.

Supported File Types

Drive accepts virtually any file type. Common types include:

  • Documents -- PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, ODS, ODP, TXT
  • Images -- PNG, JPG, GIF, SVG, WEBP
  • Videos -- MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI
  • Audio -- MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A
  • Code files -- JS, TS, PY, HTML, CSS, JSON, and many more
  • Archives -- ZIP, RAR, 7Z

File Naming

If you upload a file with a name that already exists in the target folder, Drive automatically appends a number in parentheses to avoid conflicts. For example, uploading report.pdf when that name is already taken will create report (1).pdf.

Storage Considerations

Copera does not impose file-size limits on uploads — a multi-gigabyte video, design file, or archive can go straight into Drive without being rejected for being too big. Every uploaded file counts toward your workspace's shared storage pool, and its size is added to your used space immediately after upload completes. Before uploading large batches of files, you may want to verify available capacity in the Storage Management section.
