AI Summaries

Once a meeting transcription is processed, you can use AI to extract structured insights from the conversation. Copera provides AI-powered actions that analyze the transcript and produce summaries, key points, action items, and more -- so you do not have to read through the entire transcript to know what was discussed.

AI actions in the transcript viewer

When you open a transcript in the session viewer, the left column shows an AI actions area below the speakers panel. This is where AI-generated content appears. Each action is displayed as a collapsible card with a status indicator:

StatusMeaning
PendingThe action has been created but not yet processed.
ProcessingThe AI is currently analyzing the transcript.
CompletedThe result is ready to view.
FailedSomething went wrong during processing.

Creating an AI action

Channel admins can create AI actions by clicking the + AI action button below the existing actions. A dialog appears where you can:

  1. Set a title -- give the action a descriptive name (e.g., "Meeting Summary", "Action Items", "Key Decisions").
  2. Write a prompt -- describe what you want the AI to extract from the transcript. You can be as specific or as broad as you like.
  3. Configure email delivery (optional) -- choose to send the result by email to specific workspace members, teams, or external email addresses once processing completes.

After creation, the action is queued for processing and the result appears in the transcript viewer once ready.

Working with AI results

Once an AI action completes:

  • View the result -- expand the action card to read the generated content directly in the transcript viewer.
  • Copy to clipboard -- click the copy button to paste the result into a document, message, or external tool.
  • Edit the action -- admins can modify the title, prompt, or email settings and reprocess the action.
  • Delete the action -- remove an action entirely if it is no longer needed.

AI chat with your transcript

At the bottom of the transcript viewer, there is an AI chat input where you can ask free-form questions about the transcript content. This works like a conversation with the AI assistant -- type a question such as "What were the main decisions made?" or "Summarize what John said about the budget" and receive an answer based on the transcript text.

Sharing AI summaries

AI action results follow the same access rules as the underlying transcript. Anyone who has access to the transcript can view its AI actions. If an action is configured with email delivery, the result is sent to the specified recipients automatically once processing completes, even if those recipients do not have direct access to the transcript in Copera.

Tips for effective AI actions

  • Be specific in your prompts -- "List all action items with owners and deadlines" produces more useful output than "Summarize the meeting."
  • Create multiple actions -- use separate actions for different purposes (summary, action items, decisions) rather than one catch-all prompt.
  • Use email delivery -- set up automatic email delivery for recurring meeting types so stakeholders receive summaries without having to log in.

How AI actions are billed

Each + AI action you create queues a job that draws from your workspace's pooled AI credits — the same shared pool every AI capability in Copera uses. There is no per-summary fee and no plan gate. Free workspaces get a $5/month gift (non-cumulative); each Pro seat adds $40 and each Max seat adds $500 to the pool. The AI chat input at the bottom of the transcript viewer also draws from the same pool. More complex prompts and longer transcripts consume more credits, so keep prompts focused for efficiency.
