AI Talk
AI Talk is a feature that lets you have a live conversation with an AI assistant inside a meeting channel. Instead of a traditional meeting with other team members, you join a call where the AI is the participant -- you speak naturally, and the AI responds with voice in real time. This is useful for brainstorming sessions, quick research, or preparing for a meeting before others join.
How AI Talk works
When you start an AI Talk session, you join a meeting channel where an AI participant connects alongside you. The interface shows an audio waveform visualization that responds to the AI's voice, so you can see when the AI is speaking. You talk through your microphone just like in any meeting, and the AI listens, processes your speech, and responds audibly.
The AI participant appears as a remote participant in the meeting, using the same LiveKit audio infrastructure as regular voice calls. This means the audio quality and latency are the same as any other meeting in Copera.
Starting an AI Talk session
AI Talk sessions are initiated through the AI scheduling system. When an AI call is started, the meeting channel switches to AI Talk mode. The control bar adapts to show:
- The AI Talk audio visualization -- a waveform display that animates when the AI is speaking.
- Media controls -- microphone toggle and disconnect button, streamlined for a one-on-one conversation with the AI.
While the AI participant is connecting, you see a "Waiting for AI to join..." message. Once connected, the conversation begins.
What you can do with AI Talk
AI Talk supports natural conversation, so you can:
- Ask questions -- get answers on any topic the AI assistant is knowledgeable about.
- Brainstorm ideas -- talk through a problem and get suggestions or alternative perspectives.
- Prepare for meetings -- review agenda items or rehearse a presentation with AI feedback.
- Research topics -- ask the AI to explain concepts, summarize information, or help you think through decisions.
The AI responds conversationally, making it feel like talking to a knowledgeable colleague rather than typing queries into a search bar.
Differences from regular meetings
AI Talk sessions differ from regular meetings in a few ways:
| Regular Meeting | AI Talk | |
|---|---|---|
| Participants | Multiple team members | You and the AI assistant |
| Video | Camera feeds for all participants | Audio waveform visualization only |
| Loudest speaker tile | Shown in the sidebar | Hidden (not applicable for AI calls) |
| Control bar | Full collaboration controls | Simplified media controls |
| Channel name | Conversation name | AI call title |
Ending an AI Talk session
To end the session, click the disconnect button in the control bar, just like leaving any other meeting. The AI participant disconnects, and the meeting channel returns to its normal state.
