Views Overview
Every team works differently, and a single way of looking at your data is rarely enough. Copera boards ship with seven built-in views that let you switch between layouts instantly --- without duplicating data or losing any information. Each view reads from the same underlying table, so a change made in one view is immediately reflected in all others.
Available Views
| View | Best For |
|---|---|
| List | Spreadsheet-style editing with sorting, filtering, and grouping |
| Kanban | Visualizing workflow stages and moving items with drag-and-drop |
| Gantt | Planning timelines with task dependencies and milestones |
| Timeline | Seeing items spread across day, week, or month scales |
| Calendar | Placing items on a traditional calendar layout |
| Form | Collecting data from internal or external respondents |
| Workload | Monitoring team capacity and balancing assignments |
Creating a View
- Open your board and navigate to the table you want to visualize.
- Click the + button next to the existing view tabs in the toolbar.
- Choose the view type from the dialog that appears.
- Give your view a name, select which columns to include, and configure any view-specific settings (for example, the grouping column for Kanban, or the date columns for Timeline).
- Click Save. Your new view appears as a tab alongside existing views.
Shared Settings Across Views
Regardless of which view you are using, you have access to a common set of toolbar controls:
- Filter --- Narrow down which rows are visible based on column values. Filters can combine multiple conditions with AND/OR logic.
- Sort --- Order rows by one or more columns in ascending or descending direction. Multi-level sorting is supported.
- Search --- Quickly locate rows by typing keywords that match any text column.
- Group By --- Cluster rows by a Status, Dropdown, or Users column so related items appear together.
- Hide Columns --- Toggle the visibility of individual columns to reduce noise and focus on relevant data.
View Access
When creating or editing a view, you can control who sees it:
- Everyone --- All board participants can access the view.
- Private --- Only you and explicitly added members can see and use the view.
Private views are useful for personal workflows that do not need to be shared with the entire team.
Switching Between Views
Click on any view tab in the toolbar to switch instantly. The board remembers your last-used view per table, so returning to the board later takes you back to where you left off.
