Calendar View

The Calendar view places your board items on a traditional calendar layout. Each item appears as a block on the date (or date range) defined by its date columns. This view is ideal for teams that think in terms of deadlines, scheduled events, or recurring milestones --- anyone accustomed to working with a calendar will feel right at home.

Setting Up a Calendar View

When creating a Calendar view, you configure:

  1. Start Date column --- The date field used to position items on the calendar. This is required.
  2. End Date column (optional) --- If provided, items span from the start date to the end date. If omitted, each item appears as a single-day entry on its start date.
  3. Group By column (optional) --- A Status, Dropdown, or Users column that creates resource lanes within the calendar (visible in Day and Week modes).
  4. Access --- Set the view to Everyone or Private.

Calendar Modes

The toolbar lets you switch between three modes:

  • Day --- Displays a single day divided into hourly slots. Useful for scheduling within a specific day.
  • Week --- Displays seven days side by side. The most common mode for weekly planning.
  • Month --- Displays an entire month in a traditional grid. Best for an overview of upcoming deadlines.

Navigate between periods using the toolbar arrows, or click Today to jump to the current date. The view remembers your preferred mode between sessions.

Interacting with Items

  • Click an item to open the full row detail dialog where you can view and edit all fields.
  • Drag an item to a different date cell to reschedule it. If the view has an end date column configured, both start and end dates adjust to maintain the same duration.
  • Click an empty time slot to create a new item pre-filled with that date (and resource, if grouping is active).

Resource Grouping

When a Group By column is configured, the Day and Week modes display resource lanes. Each lane corresponds to a unique value from the grouping field --- for example, one lane per team member when grouped by Users. Resource headers appear along the left side, letting you see each person's or category's schedule in parallel.

Filtering, Sorting, and Searching

All standard toolbar controls are available:

  • Filter --- Show only items that match specific criteria.
  • Sort --- Control the order in which overlapping items are stacked.
  • Search --- Find specific items by keyword.

Tips

  • Use Week mode for sprint or iteration planning to see the full picture of upcoming work.
  • Combine Calendar view with filters to create focused schedules --- for example, filter by assignee to see only your own items.
  • If your items represent events with specific times, use a DateTime-formatted date column for precise hourly placement in Day mode.
  • Create multiple Calendar views with different groupings to see the same data from different angles.
