What is Bankai

Bankai is your voice power inside Copera — hold a key, speak naturally, and Bankai dictates formatted text, answers questions, runs commands, holds a spoken conversation, answers questions about what is on your screen, or records and summarizes a whole meeting. Instead of typing every message, document paragraph, question, or command, you talk and Bankai handles the rest.

The name comes from the anime Bleach, where "Bankai" means the full release of one's power. That is exactly what this feature does: it unlocks your full speed. Most people speak at 150 words per minute but type at only 40. With Bankai, you reclaim that difference.

What Bankai Can Do

Bankai brings four connected capabilities to Copera:

CapabilityWhat it gives you
Voice ModesSpeak instead of type — dictate text at your cursor, ask questions, run commands, or hold a spoken conversation. Omni mode figures out which you want automatically.
Vision ModeAsk about whatever is on your screen — Bankai captures a screenshot the instant you speak, reads it, and answers.
Bankai NotesA personal meeting recorder that turns any call — on any app, or in person — into a searchable AI summary and transcript, with optional speaker names.
Voice History & AnalyticsTrack your words spoken, time saved, sessions, and daily streak, with a mode breakdown and the ability to replay or retry any past session.

Each one is covered in its own guide. Start with Voice Modes to learn the core speaking experience, then layer on Vision and Notes as you need them.

Bankai is a Power, Not an Assistant

An important distinction: Bankai is not a separate assistant that does things for you. Bankai is your power --- a direct extension of how you work. When you dictate, you are writing at 4x speed. When you ask a question, you are pulling knowledge into your workflow. When you issue a command, you are navigating Copera hands-free. The speed and capability are yours.

Voice Modes

Bankai operates in distinct modes, each designed for a different type of interaction. There are five core modes, plus two more powers you can turn on:

ModeWhat it does
Omni (default)AI automatically classifies your intent --- just talk naturally
DictationYour speech becomes formatted text at the cursor position
AskAsk a question by voice, receive an AI answer at the cursor
CommandsControl Copera by voice --- navigate, open, join, create
ChatWalkie-talkie conversation with AI, complete with spoken responses
VisionAsk about what is on your screen --- Bankai takes a screenshot and answers
Bankai NotesRecord a meeting and get an AI summary, transcript, and speaker names

You can lock into a specific mode when you want full control, or stay in Omni mode and let the AI figure out what you need. Learn more in Voice Modes, Vision Mode, and Bankai Notes.

Desktop App Required

Bankai requires the Copera desktop app (available for Windows and macOS). Voice recording uses global keyboard shortcuts that only work at the operating system level --- the browser cannot intercept system-wide key combinations like Ctrl+Win or Fn. The desktop app also provides the floating voice widget that shows your recording status outside the Copera window.

If you are using Copera in a web browser, you will see the Voice Settings page but will not be able to record. Install the desktop app to unlock Bankai.

How It Works

  1. Hold the shortcut key --- Ctrl+Win on Windows, Fn on Mac. A floating pill appears at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Speak naturally --- say whatever you need. No special syntax, no robotic phrasing.
  3. Release the key --- Bankai processes your speech and takes the appropriate action based on the active mode.

That is the core loop. Hold, speak, release. Everything else --- mode selection, trigger words, formatting --- builds on top of this simple interaction.

Getting Started

If this is your first time, head to Getting Started to enable Bankai and walk through the interactive training wizard that measures your personal speed advantage.

note

Bankai is available on every workspace. Each time you dictate, ask, or chat, the request draws from your workspace's shared AI credits — the same pool every AI capability in Copera uses. If voice features do not appear in your AI sidebar, make sure you are on the Copera desktop app — voice recording requires the desktop app, not the browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bankai?

Bankai is Copera's voice power. Hold a key, speak naturally, and Bankai dictates formatted text, answers questions, runs commands, holds a spoken conversation, answers questions about your screen, or records and summarizes a meeting — all from one simple hold-speak-release loop.

What can Bankai do?

Four things: Voice Modes for speaking instead of typing, Vision Mode for asking about what is on your screen, Bankai Notes for recording meetings into searchable AI notes, and a Voice History page that tracks your words spoken, time saved, sessions, and streak.

Do I need the desktop app?

Yes — Bankai's voice and vision features run in the Copera desktop app for Windows and macOS, because voice recording relies on global keyboard shortcuts the browser cannot intercept. You can still read your Bankai Notes library in a browser.

Is Bankai turned on automatically?

No. Bankai is personal and opt-in — turn it on from the AI sidebar or Voice Settings when you are ready, and a short training wizard shows you the modes and your personal speed advantage. Your setup follows you across every device you sign in to.
