Image Generation

AI Image Generation in Copera lets you create images from text prompts directly inside an AI Chat conversation. Describe the image you want in natural language — a logo, illustration, product mockup, or creative scene — and the AI generates it inline. You can open any result in a full-screen lightbox, view it at full resolution, and download the file to your computer.

Generating an Image

  1. Open AI Chat from the left sidebar.
  2. Type a description of the image you want. Be specific about what you need — include details about the subject, style, colors, composition, and mood.
  3. Press Enter or click Send.

The AI will determine that you want an image and begin generating it. You will see a "Generating image..." progress indicator while the image is being created.

What Happens During Generation

  1. Progress indicator — A "Generating image..." label with a spinner appears while the AI processes your request.
  2. Loading skeleton — A placeholder animation fills the space where the image will appear.
  3. Image appears — Once ready, the generated image replaces the skeleton and displays inline in the conversation.

Viewing Generated Images

Generated images appear inline in the conversation with a header label. To see the image at full size:

  1. Click the image to open it in a full-screen lightbox dialog.
  2. View the image at its full resolution.
  3. Click anywhere outside the image or click the X button to close the lightbox.

Downloading Images

You can download any generated image to your computer:

  1. Click the image to open the full-screen lightbox.
  2. Click the Download button (downward arrow icon) in the top-right corner of the lightbox.
  3. The image saves to your default downloads folder.

Writing Effective Prompts

The quality of generated images depends heavily on how you describe what you want. Here are examples of how to write effective prompts:

Less EffectiveMore Effective
"A dog""A golden retriever puppy sitting in a field of sunflowers at golden hour, warm lighting, realistic photography style"
"A logo""A minimalist logo for a tech startup, geometric shapes, blue and white color palette, clean modern design on a transparent background"
"An office""A modern open-plan office with floor-to-ceiling windows, natural wood desks, indoor plants, soft natural lighting, architectural photography"
"A chart""A clean infographic showing four steps in a process, using green and gray colors, flat design style, with numbered circles and connecting arrows"

Tips for Better Results

  • Be specific about the subject — Describe exactly what should appear in the image.
  • Mention the style — Photography, illustration, watercolor, flat design, 3D render, pixel art, etc.
  • Describe colors and lighting — "Warm tones," "bright natural lighting," "dark moody atmosphere."
  • Specify the composition — "Close-up," "birds-eye view," "centered," "with negative space on the right."
  • Include the context — "For a presentation slide," "as a social media post," "for a website hero section."

Error Handling

If the image generation fails, the AI will let you know with a clear error message. Common reasons include:

  • The description was too vague for the AI to interpret.
  • The request described content that cannot be generated.

If generation fails, try rephrasing your description with more specific details and send it again.

If the image loads but fails to display (for example, due to a network issue), a placeholder appears with a "Failed to load image" message. The image may still be available — try refreshing the page.

Tips and Best Practices

tip

You do not need to use any special keywords or commands. Simply describe the image naturally in your message, and the AI will recognize that you want an image generated.

tip

If the first result is not quite right, describe what you want changed in a follow-up message. For example: "Make the background lighter" or "Change the style to a watercolor illustration." The AI remembers the context of your conversation.

tip

Generated images work well for presentations, social media content, brainstorming visual concepts, and creating placeholder graphics. For production-quality brand assets, use the generated image as a starting point and refine it with dedicated design tools.

tip

You can generate multiple images in the same conversation. Each generation is independent — describe a new image at any point in the conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What image formats are generated?

Generated images are delivered as standard web image formats that can be viewed in any browser and downloaded for use in other applications.

Can I edit a generated image?

You cannot edit a generated image directly within Copera. However, you can describe changes in a follow-up message and the AI will generate a new image with your adjustments. You can also download the image and edit it with external tools.

Is there a limit on how many images I can generate?

Image generation draws from your workspace's pooled AI credits — the same pool every AI capability in Copera uses. There is no separate image quota and no per-image fee locked to a plan. Free workspaces get a $5/month credit gift (non-cumulative), each Pro seat adds $40 to the pool, and each Max seat adds $500 to the pool. Any member can generate images until the pool runs out.

Can I use generated images commercially?

Generated images are created for your use within Copera and can be downloaded for your projects. Check with your organization's policies regarding AI-generated content for commercial use.

Can I generate images of specific people?

The AI is designed to generate original creative content. It does not reproduce copyrighted material or create images of real, identifiable individuals.

How long does image generation take?

Most images are generated within 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the complexity of the description and current system load.
