A Weekly Reflection Prompter, Run by AI
By the end of this recipe you'll get a short set of reflection questions in your DMs every week — tailored to the goals you set last time — and every answer you write is logged to a personal board, turning scattered good intentions into a running record you can actually look back on. Reflection is the habit everyone means to keep and almost nobody does; the fix isn't more willpower, it's a nudge that shows up on schedule and a place your answers automatically land.
Readiness: Available now, built as two Automations — a prompter and a logger. The version where a single named teammate owns the whole ritual, remembers your goals, and checks in under its own identity is rolling out in early access.
What it does
A weekly reflection prompter answers a simple question — am I actually making progress on what matters to me? — without relying on you to remember to sit down and think about it. It's two automations working together:
- The prompter runs on a schedule (say, every Friday at 4 PM). Before it messages you, it reads your last reflection entry so it can ask about the specific goals you set — not the same generic questions every week — then DMs you the prompts and a link to a quick reflection form.
- You answer in a few minutes: what went well, what didn't, what you learned, and what you want to focus on next week. Nothing here is busywork — these are your own words.
- The logger turns that form into a row on your personal Reflection Log board — one entry per week, with your wins, challenges, lessons, and next-week goals each in their own column — and DMs you a one-line confirmation of what you committed to.
The payoff compounds. After a month you can look back across the board and see patterns you'd never hold in your head: which goals keep slipping, what consistently drains your energy, where you're actually growing. And because next week's prompts are built from this week's goals, the ritual holds you to your own word.
Build it yourself
You'll set up a board and a form once, then build two small automations. The whole thing takes about fifteen minutes.
One-time setup
Make a personal board with a table for your weekly entries. Add columns for Week (a date), Wins (rich text — what went well), Challenges (rich text — what didn't), Lessons (rich text — what you learned), Goals for next week (rich text or a checklist), and an Energy rating (a number or a select like Low / Steady / High). This board is both your prompt fuel and your archive — keep it to yourself unless you deliberately want to share it.
Add a form to the board whose questions map one-to-one to those columns: "What went well this week?", "What didn't go the way you hoped?", "What did you learn?", "What are your top goals for next week?", and "How was your energy?" Because a form submission creates a row, answering it is what actually logs your reflection — no copy-paste, no separate journal.
Automation 1 — the prompter
Build this one on the Reflection Log board, so it can read your past entries.
In Automations, add a Schedule trigger for your reflection time — for example, every Friday at 4:00 PM. Pick a moment you can reliably give five quiet minutes to.
Add a Find rows action on the Reflection Log table that returns your most recent entry — filter to rows created in the last seven days, or simply grab the latest row. This is the goal-setting you did a week ago, and it's what makes the prompts personal.
Add an AI → Generate step that turns last week's entry into a short, tailored prompt list. Prompt it plainly: "Write four brief weekly-reflection questions. Reference the goals from last week's entry so I can report on each one, then ask what went well, what didn't, and my goals for next week. Warm, concise, no fluff." (No prior entry yet? It just falls back to the standard four questions.)
Add a Send direct message action addressed to yourself. Include the AI-generated questions and a link to the reflection form. That's the whole nudge — it lands in your DMs, on any device, right on schedule.
No form, if you'd rather write in the board. Prefer to reflect directly on the board? Swap the form for a Create row action in the prompter: each week it creates a pre-stamped entry ("Week of…") with a status like Awaiting reflection, and the DM links you straight to that row to fill in. One automation, and your log is created before you even start writing.
Automation 2 — the logger
Add a second automation with a Form submitted trigger on your reflection form. It fires the moment you finish answering.
Add a Create row action on the Reflection Log table, mapping each answer to its column — wins, challenges, lessons, next-week goals, energy — and set Week to today. This is the "logs your goals" half: your reflection is now a permanent, searchable entry.
Add an AI → Summarize step over your answers to produce a one-line recap ("A heavy shipping week; energy dipped mid-week; next focus is hiring"). Write it into a summary column so you can skim the whole log at a glance later.
Add a Send direct message action back to yourself: "Logged. Your focus next week: [goals]." It closes the loop and puts next week's intentions in front of you one more time — which is exactly what the next prompt will ask you about.
Or just ask Copera AI
You don't have to assemble any of this by hand. Open Ask Copera AI and describe the whole ritual in one go:
"Create a personal Reflection Log board with columns for the week, wins, challenges, lessons, next-week goals, and an energy rating. Then build one automation that every Friday at 4pm reads my last entry, writes four reflection prompts that reference last week's goals, and DMs me the questions with the form link — and a second automation that logs each form submission as a new row and DMs me a one-line recap."
Ask Copera AI can create the board, its columns, and both automations for you. It doesn't create the form — add the reflection form to the board yourself, which is a couple of clicks, and then you're set. Under the default Ask before acting permission mode, it shows a review card for each change before anything is created, so you approve the board setup and the two automations before they exist. It only ever works within your own permissions — this board and these DMs are yours. See What Copera AI Can Do for the full list of what it can build.
Make it a standing teammate
AI teammates are rolling out gradually. If you don't see them in your workspace yet, they're on the way — everything in this guide can be built today as an Automation. When one is available, a named teammate — think of it as a reflection coach — can own this ritual end to end: it remembers your past entries, writes prompts that build on the goals you keep setting, DMs you at your chosen time, and logs each answer to your board, all under its own identity. Teammates read by default and can send you direct messages and create rows; they can't delete anything or send outside your workspace, so your reflection stays private to you.
Tips
Anchor it to a moment you already have. A reflection prompt that arrives at a random hour gets ignored. Schedule it for the edge of your week — Friday afternoon before you log off, or Sunday evening before you plan — so it rides an existing transition instead of interrupting deep work.
Let the AI hold you to last week's goals. The single feature that turns this from a journal into a growth loop is the Find rows step feeding last week's entry into the prompt. Keep it. Being asked "you said you'd finish X — did you?" is what makes the ritual honest.
Keep the form short. Four or five questions, all optional. The goal is a habit you keep for a year, not a perfect entry you abandon in three weeks. You can always add depth later; you can't get back the weeks you skipped because it felt like homework.
Review the log monthly. Once a month, open the board (or ask Copera AI to read it) and look for patterns across entries: goals that keep slipping, recurring energy drains, wins you've undersold. The weekly entries are the raw material; the monthly read is where the insight lives.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a weekly reflection prompter?
It's a standing weekly ritual Copera runs for you. At a set time each week, an automation DMs you a short set of reflection questions — what went well, what didn't, what you learned, and your goals for next week — and logs your answers as a row on a personal board, so you build a running record instead of relying on memory.
Can Copera send me reflection prompts automatically each week?
Yes. A Schedule trigger fires on your chosen day and time, and a Send direct message action DMs you the prompts. Because the automation reads your last entry first, it can weave in the goals you set previously, so the nudge asks how those specific goals actually went.
Where do my reflections and goals get saved?
On a personal board you own. You answer a short reflection form, and a second automation creates one row per week with your wins, challenges, lessons, and next-week goals in their own columns. Over time the board becomes a searchable log of how each week went and whether you hit your goals.
Can the prompts reference last week's goals?
Yes. Because your past reflections live on the same board, the prompter automation can Find your most recent entry and pass it to an AI Generate step, so this week's questions reference the exact goals you wrote last week instead of asking the same generic questions every time.
Is my weekly reflection private?
Yes. The prompts arrive as a direct message to you, the log lives on a board only you can see, and automations run within your own permissions — they never expose anything you couldn't already access. Nothing is posted anywhere else unless you build it to.
Can I use this for my team instead of just myself?
You can, though it changes shape. For a private personal habit, keep the board and DMs to yourself. To run a shared weekly retro, point the form and log at a team board and deliver the prompt to a channel — closer to the end-of-day team check-in pattern.
