AI Assistant

Copera includes a built-in AI assistant that lives alongside your team conversations. Instead of switching to an external tool every time you need a quick answer, a summary, or a draft, you can invoke the assistant right inside any text channel and get a response in seconds. The AI assistant is context-aware, meaning it can reference your workspace content --- documents, boards, and channel history --- to give answers that are specific to your team's work.

What the AI Assistant Can Do

The AI assistant is designed to help with a wide range of everyday tasks without breaking your flow:

  • Answer questions --- Ask about company processes, product details, or anything covered in your workspace documents. The assistant searches across your docs, boards, and messages to find relevant information.
  • Summarize conversations --- If you missed a long discussion, ask the assistant to summarize recent channel activity so you can catch up in seconds instead of scrolling through dozens of messages.
  • Draft messages --- Need to compose a response, announcement, or update? Describe what you want to say and the assistant will generate a draft you can review and edit before sending.
  • Explain topics --- Ask the assistant to break down a complex topic, explain a technical concept, or provide background context drawn from your workspace knowledge base.
  • Search your workspace --- The assistant can search across documents, board rows, and transcriptions to find the information you need, returning direct references to the source material.
  • Generate content --- Create lists, outlines, tables, and formatted text that you can paste directly into docs or messages.

How to Use the AI Assistant

The AI assistant is accessible from the sidebar. Click the AI icon in the left navigation panel to open the assistant chat. From there you can start a conversation by typing your question or request in the input field.

Starting a Conversation

  1. Click the AI icon in the sidebar to open the assistant panel.
  2. Type your question or request in the message input at the bottom.
  3. Press Enter to send. The assistant will respond in the same conversation thread.

You can maintain multiple conversation threads with the AI assistant. Each thread keeps its own context, so you can have separate ongoing conversations for different topics.

Providing Context

The AI assistant can work with additional context to give more accurate responses:

  • Attach files --- Upload documents or images directly in the AI chat for the assistant to analyze.
  • Reference workspace content --- Use the context selector to attach specific documents, boards, or Drive files to your conversation. The assistant will use these as reference material when answering.
  • Board context --- When you have a board open, the assistant automatically knows which board and table you are viewing, so you can ask questions about your current work.

When you start a new conversation, the assistant displays featured prompt cards with common starting points. These cards provide quick access to frequent tasks like summarizing content, searching your workspace, or generating ideas. Click any card to instantly start that type of interaction.

Context-Aware Responses

One of the most powerful aspects of the AI assistant is its ability to reference your workspace data. When the assistant uses information from your documents, boards, or transcriptions, it includes source references in its response. You can click on these references to navigate directly to the original content, making it easy to verify information and dive deeper.

The assistant supports Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), which means it searches your workspace content in real time to ground its responses in actual data rather than general knowledge alone.

Tips for Getting the Best Results

Be specific in your requests. Instead of "tell me about the project," try "summarize the key decisions from the marketing-strategy channel this week" or "what are the open tasks on the Q1 Planning board?"

  • Ask follow-up questions --- The assistant remembers the context of your conversation, so you can refine your query across multiple messages.
  • Use the context selector --- Attaching relevant documents or boards helps the assistant give more targeted answers.
  • Start new threads for new topics --- Keep conversations focused by creating a new thread when you switch to a different subject.
